Ms. Whaley's Class

Dear Families,

Welcome to Second grade at McGarrah Elementary School!  I am thrilled to be your child’s Second-grade teacher and I know this will be an awesome school-year!

For your child’s journey to be successful, it is essential for me to understand that each child is a unique individual with special qualities and needs.  With the support of students and families, I will create a classroom environment that will recognize and respect student individuality. To support each student’s learning, I will create a classroom that offers a variety of meaningful teaching styles so that each child will have the opportunity to succeed. The children will grow and learn at their own rate. I invite you to play an active role in your child’s education by talking with your child each day about his/her learning, as well as reading together every night, and communicating with me. J

I would like open communication between us, so at any time you have a question, I will be happy to talk with you.  Furthermore, write a note, call, or email me and I will respond as soon as possible. I also want you to feel well informed throughout the year.  Each day your child will bring home his/her Gold Home-work Folder.  Your child’s folder will contain his/her work for the day, notes, homework, and possibly a behavior report if needed. Please check your child’s backpack daily for important letters and notes. Please sign up for Class Dojo, our communication system.

Please sign and return any specified forms immediately.

Again, I am so excited about getting to know you and your child this year!  Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.  I truly believe that with teachers and parents working together, we have the “Super-Powers” to ensure your child’s academic success.

Thank you in advance for your great support!
